Shot of the Day - 10 - Determination

Determination (17 May 2017)

For reasons I can’t fathom, the trees along a two-block stretch near our house were cut down. They were modest in size…25 feet tops. No threat to power lines since they were on the other side of the street. The trees were not between the sidewalk and curb and the cement path was not being lifted out of place. I guess the authorities had their reasons.

They were cut down months ago and while one block had the stumps ground up and mulched over, the other block left the stumps in place. With spring in full swing, a few of the stumps have decided to join the party.

They have gumption. It’s like, “Oh well. It was a good 25 years. Now, I have to start all over. Not a problem.”

Determination.

I’m reminded of a saying that comes out of Afghanistan…The Graveyard of Empires. When it comes to foreign invaders, they say, “You have the watches. We have the time.”

Determination. I could use more of it.

Go to the next township meeting and ask WHY THEY CUT THE TREES!!! We have been fighting the power company since they want to chop down our trees.... because they might fall on the power line. BASTARDS!
